Perm sees 1,5 times more snow compared to this time last year

From the beginning of December more than 500 thousand m3 of snow has been moved to the “snow polygons”. That is 1,5 times more than last year. This amount of snow is relatively enough for organizing one or even several activities at Sochi. The Head of the Russian Olympic Committee Aleksandr Zhukov said in an interview that “almost half million m3 of snow at Krasnaya Polyana will let us hold skiing, biathlon and alpine skiing games this year”.

Snow removal procedures have not stopped by now. According to weather service, 60% of mean yearly rainfall has fallen by this time. Now when the snowfalls have stopped, public utilities have to clean the city from the snow, especially the sidewalks and pedestrian areas. 160 units of equipment are running this mission every day.

“A layer of bodied snow on the sidewalks is allowed, but because of the changing weather conditions it turns into a snow slush, which is absolutely unacceptable, - said Deputy Head of Perm Department of Beautification Aleksandr Vlasov. Condition of the streets is also affected by property owners, who throw down snow from the roofs and leave it on the ground”.

From the beginning of December more than 515 m3 was removed from the city. This is 1,5 times more compared to the last year: only 300 m3 of snow was removed from the city by this time.
